In the movie Forest Gump (1994) by Robert Zemeckis, best friends Private
Benjamin Buford “Bubba” Blue (played by Mykelti Williamson) and Private
Forest Gump (played by Tom Hanks) are soldiers in the US army,
fighting the war in Vietnam. Bubba has been telling Forest about his
dream of running a shrimp business and between minutes 00:34:04:00
and 00:35:20:00 he goes on to recite a long list of shrimp recipies.
By the way Bubba talks about shrimp and all the facts about the profession
that he shares with Forest, I understand he is an expert and I am encouraged
to believe that he is going through the list of all possible recipies that can be
made with shrimps. Bubba particularly finished his list saying “That’s it really”.
Because the scene is not a sequence and the audience is missing most of
the recipies, my assumption is that many more recipes were scripted but left
out during the post production.
In order to confirm my hypothesis, I have sent letters to Mykelti Williamson,
Eric Roth (Screenwriter) and Winston Groom (Author of the original
book Forest Gump, 1986), asking them to respond to my interrogation
or to direct me to where I can find a reliable answer.
